If you love her, set her free?

Stella surfaced on Wednesday morning in my neighbour’s back yard after going underground on or about May 6.  I’ve seen her a number of times since.  It appears she’s made herself a cozy little niche over there although it’s unclear to me if she’s now an indoor/outdoor cat or strictly an outdoor cat.  It’s pretty obvious she’s being taken care of though.

I’ve tried everything to get this cat to come back including, but not limited to, wet food, cat nip, her favourite toys, whistling, sweet-talking and tuna.  People, if she’s not going to come back for tuna, she’s not going to come back for anything.  I can’t get into the neighbour’s back yard unless granted access through the house so I can’t really try to nab her and make a break for it.  All the other stray cats access our yard via a well-worn space beneath the fence and I just think if she wanted to come home she would use it.  Instead, she sits over there preening herself and staring at me occasionally with disdain.

I’m not sure what’s worse, thinking your cat is dead or knowing that your cat kind of thinks you suck.  Either way, it fucking blows.

What do you think?
